Elokuussa 2005 Stacey Castor soitti hysteerisen puhelun hätäkeskukseen ja kertoi epäilevänsä, että hänen miehensä oli tehnyt itsemurhan. Kun poliisit tulivat paikalle, he löysivät Staceyn miehen Davidin kuolleena. Tarkkanäköisen poliisin ansiosta kuolemaa alettiin kuitenkin tutkia tarkemmin ja tapaus sai käänteen, jota kukaan ei osannut odottaa.
