Morbid Network | Wondery Morbid Network | Wondery 9/19/23 - 7m - PDF Transcript

Hey weirdos. It's me, Ash.

And it's Laine over here.

And we have a fun, exciting surprise for you.

It's the rewatcher.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

I am rewatching every single episode

of Buffy the Vampire Slayer

and Ash is coming along with me for the first time.

But now, for people who are like me

and love Buffy and love that entire universe

and I've seen all of them and you know who you are.

The Buffyheads out there.

The Buffbuff.

This is gonna be a fun deep dive.

We're gonna talk to people from the show.

We're gonna talk about the show.

We're gonna talk about how we feel about the things now

that may be aged a little like a human.

You'll get that if you listen to the podcast.

Yeah, because we have fun little categories.

I like to rate the fashion.

We like to say our quotes of the week.

You gotta hear it.

You gotta listen to it.

And I think it's like the perfect thing to listen to

after an episode of Morbid

because it's like a little palette cleanser.

Exactly.

And if you're like Ash and you've really not seen the show,

it's gonna be fun too

because you're gonna get to experience it with Ash

how Ash is experiencing it now.

So it's really for everybody.

And I'm telling you, if you love Morbid,

I really think you're gonna love it.

We have a lot of fun over there.

We laugh our way through the episode.

We cry.

We have all the emotions.

So come over and experience it with us.

So much fun.

I'm about to play a clip from the rewatcher.

Follow the rewatcher on the Wondery app

or wherever you get your podcasts.

Previously on the rewatcher, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Now we've made it to homecoming.

The crown is gonna be Buffy's every time.

She's ready to compete.

No, it's gonna be Cordelia's.

It's gonna be Buffy's.

Cordelia's.

Buffy.

Cordelia's.

Willow's thinking that they should seize that fish

and get a fucking limo.

You're a fake.

You're a fraud.

You're a phony.

You're fake as fuck, Scott.

Willow and Xander are trying on outfits for the dance

and Xander pulls her in and they start to dance.

And they kiss.

Ah!

Welcome to Slayer Fest 98.

I'm gonna meet the mayor.

I'm about to meet the mayor.

And Cordelia's like, yeah, you're right.

Buffy's a crazy freak.

And then Buffy's like, you vapid whore.

When she dropped that line of vapid whore,

I said, whew, queen shit.

This is the rewatcher, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

This is season three, episode six, Band Candy.

Hey rewatchers.

We have a very, very, very exciting episode today.

We have somebody straight from the Summers' households.

We have none other than Christine Sutherland,

a.k.a. Joy Summers on the show today.

Christine, we are so thankful that you came on

and we are honored to have you.

Oh, thank you.

I'm so excited to be here.

Every episode we go through the episode.

We just kind of talk about what happens scene by scene.

If you have anything that you want to break in with

or any kind of anecdote or you want to comment on something,

just pop right in.

Okay, okay.

We get an ash thirst trap moment

because Angel is shirtless doing tai chi.

It's very beautiful.

And Buffy also digs it.

She smashes that like button

because she just watches from the shadows.

I would too.

Yeah.

And I wondered where Faith was in this episode

because you know Faith would be there

with some like super crass anecdote

about like down low tingles like she said in the last episode.

I think that's the only thing this episode is missing.

But at the same time,

I don't know where you would fit her into it all.

This is where you would fit her.

She would just come out of the shadows

and say something really horrible

and then just slink back out of it.

But she's watching him

and when he notices her,

he's like, how'd you get away?

And she says,

That was easy.

Started a fire in the prison laundry room

burnt out in the garbage truck.

And he kind of seems like he believes that

and she's like, I'm kidding.

I'm not in prison.

And then she's like, no garbage.

See, I don't smell.

And it gets real awkward for a moment,

which I was like, it doesn't have to be.

You're not with Scott anymore.

Just love each other.

I was like, don't make it weird guys.

But he just looks at the floor

and is like, how are you and Scott doing?

And she goes,

she begins to tell him that they broke up,

but then thinks better of it

and does exactly what they used to do,

which was just play games

and never be honest with each other

and never just be upfront.

I was like, just tell him girl,

like change the way this is going.

But no, she's like, oh, it's going fine.

And the thing is you get like,

I got so irritated watching it

for a quick second.

And then I was like, honestly,

that's exactly what I used to do

with my high school boyfriends.

Very 17, 18 year old behavior.

So it makes a lot of sense.

Games, games, games.

Just always be gaming.

But he's like, are you being careful?

And at first she's like with Scott.

And that's what we kind of think too.

And she's like, no, with slang.

Like I don't care what you're doing with Scott.

And she's like, no,

I'm totally full of the carefulness.

And then he's like, I worry about you.

And it becomes a thing that she's like,

well, I worry about you.

And they have this moment with their eyes and things get.

And you're like, come on, you love each other.

But no, it breaks up.

And you're like, come on, like destiny literally

shot him out of a hell dimension.

It's time to like give it all up.

We're all waiting, be together, seize that fish.

You know when we were talking about kind of the double thing

looking at the show when you're as a young person

and then looking at it that moment when he's over at the house

and I come home and I start up the stairs.

Yeah.

He walks out of the shadows.

This gut reaction happened, which was a,

he's too old for my daughter.

Yeah.

Yeah.

He's a man.

Yeah.

He's still a girl.

Yeah.

And the other reaction was, God, this guy's really hot.

You know?

And that was kind of like, ooh.

I was like, ee.

This is double-edged sword here.

Don't think I'm supposed to feel that way.

Yeah.

I love that.

I mean, we can't blame you.

No, we cannot.

Especially Ash.

Ash is Team Angel.

I would have felt the same.

Did you know that on The ReWatcher: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Ash & Alaina find themselves in Sunnydale every single Monday? Yup, Welcome to The Hellmouth Weirdos! They’re watching Buffy from the very beginning. Alaina grew up a diehard fan of Buffy, and Ash is watching it for the very first time. Each week, they break down Buffy and her friends’ heroism and heartbreak through weekly recaps, categories and awards, while Ash takes some (wooden stake) stabs at predicting what she thinks will happen next to Buffy, Willow, Spike, and the rest. They also welcome the occasional Buffy cast member to join in the slaying.
