Emmanuel Macron made his way to Israel
and then to the Palestinian territory for six years.
There were a lot of statements and reactions.
There was a central question with this visit.
What is today the position of the French president
and the position of the French government on this subject?
We're going to analyze this today.
We're also going to see what's going on.
Hi, it's Hugo. I hope you're doing well.
It's the subject of one of today's news.
First information.
It's not the first head of state to make himself in Israel.
Since Hamas' attack on October 7,
several political leaders have made themselves in Israel.
It's the case of American President Joe Biden,
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz,
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak
or the president of the Italian Council Giorgia Meloni
and the head of the Dutch government Mark Rutte.
This Tuesday, it's the French president Emmanuel Macron
who made himself so alive
that he first met the families of French victims of the attacks on October 7.
In fact, we must know that 30 French people have been killed
by Hamas since October 7
and 9 are still missing or held hostage.
This attack on October 7 is simply the terrorist attack
the most deadly for French people since the attack on Nice in 2016.
Overall, more than 1400 people, including many civilians,
have been killed by the Israeli side since this attack.
The majority during this first attack on October 7
and 5,700 people have been killed by the Palestinian side
according to Hamas' figures,
including many civilians, including many children,
according to the last elements of the UNG and the UN on site.
So why did the French president make himself in Israel and Palestine?
The first objective displayed by the president of the Republic
is the liberation of all hostages.
I quote without any distinction.
We must know that since Hamas' attack,
there have been 4 hostages released,
2 American hostages on Friday,
2 days after Joe Biden's visit to Israel,
and 2 Israeli hostages this Tuesday,
whose husbands are still held hostage.
In any case, it is more than 220 Israeli and foreign hostages
that have been repressed by Israel,
which would be currently held by Hamas in Gaza.
The second objective of Emmanuel Macron,
which is related to this first one,
is to express the support and I quote
the solidarity of France with Israel.
The French president met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
as well as Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
He reminded, according to him,
the legitimate right of Israel to defend itself against Hamas.
Hamas, including one of the objectives,
is the end of an Israeli state
to replace him with a Palestinian state.
Emmanuel Macron reminded, however,
that the struggle must be without mercy,
but not without rules.
A phrase that obviously echoes the situation in Gaza
that we talked a lot about these last few days,
a catastrophic situation according to the UN.
We talked about the human balance already,
but beyond that, there is a state of siege imposed by Israel
on the Gaza strip, which is illegal
in the eyes of the international law,
and which deprives Gaza of water, electricity,
or gas.
Bombings are also more and more intense on the territory.
In short, the situation is catastrophic today for the inhabitants.
We talked about what is the question of Israeli colonization in Jordan,
but the third objective set by the French president about Hamas
is to fight against terrorist groups
and avoid the opening of new fronts in the region.
We can think about the fronts between Israel and Lebanon.
It was one of the news we posted yesterday.
There is a phrase, a proposal that made a lot of people react.
The French president has proposed, I quote,
a regional and international coalition
to fight against terrorist groups that threaten us all.
He has also proposed that the state coalition
against the Islamic State group can also fight against Hamas.
A proposal that made people react,
especially because some believe that it would come back
if it were the case to engage France in the current war.
The fourth objective set by his visit
is to call for a humanitarian break,
a break to achieve more humanitarian aid in Gaza,
while Israel has imposed a siege on Gaza.
Emmanuel Macron has also called this Tuesday
to restore electricity in hospitals
without it being used by Hamas to make the war.
Fifth and last important objective,
Emmanuel Macron has declared that he would like to resume a peace process
and especially the creation of a Palestinian state
while guaranteeing Israel's security.
This is the famous solution to two states,
which we will talk about a few days ago.
This solution to two states has been worn for a long time.
It is the idea that to achieve peace,
we need an Israeli state,
but also the recognition of a Palestinian state.
We will come back to that later.
Finally, the sixth element that we can note
and which joins the fifth,
Emmanuel Macron is favorable and asked
to stop the Israeli colonization in six days.
The Israeli colonization is the fact
that Israelis settle and colonize this Palestinian territory
in six days.
A colonization which is a violation of the international law
according to the UN.
Emmanuel Macron has also met this afternoon
the head of the Palestinian Authority
Marmoud Abbas in Ramallah in six days.
He is the first Western leader to make himself in six days
to meet the head of the Palestinian Authority,
which is the other important pro-Palestinian organization
with Hamas, but which has different action modes.
One of the major differences between Hamas and the Palestinian Authority
is the FATA, which is the main organization of the Palestinian Authority.
It is the fact that this Palestinian Authority
is more open to dialogue with the different heads of state.
Following that, Emmanuel Macron should meet
a little later the King Abdullah II of Jordan,
and perhaps other leaders of the region.
And in the past six days,
we have planned daily actions dedicated to the current situation
and to the colonization of the Syrian Authority.
We will talk about it again in the end of the week,
whether on YouTube or on the audio version on the podcast.
So quickly, more globally and more historically,
what is the historical position of France
on this issue of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict?
Well, since its election in 2017,
Emmanuel Macron seems to operate a form of approach
according to a lot of specialists with Israel.
And we can visit more recently, in 2022,
Jean Castex, then Prime Minister,
who had said that, I quote,
Jerusalem is the eternal capital of the Jewish people.
A phrase that has made many reactions,
whereas France generally takes the share of the holy city
between Israelis and Palestinians.
And by the way, today, the embassy of France in Israel,
it is not located in Jerusalem,
but it is well located in Tel Aviv.
So historically, France recognized the state of Israel
almost a year after its declaration of independence in 1948.
From there, the different presidents of the Republic,
Charles de Gaulle and Emmanuel Macron,
have globally maintained this position
of a solution to two states.
It is a historical position of France,
which wishes for the creation and recognition
of a Palestinian state,
in addition to an Israeli state.
But it must be noted that France still does not officially recognize
Palestine today,
and that while 138 countries in the world
recognize the Palestinian state today.
Here too, I send you to the other activities of the day
that we posted on the subject.
We will therefore see how the situation is evolving
and if the visit of Emmanuel Macron
takes place or not on advancements in the coming days.
In any case, some of these declarations
may make reactions in the coming hours
and in the coming days.
We will come back to that as soon as we have new ones.
I leave you with Leah for the news.
In short, I come back right after.
Thank you Hugo and hello everyone.
Today we start with this act.
In France, the technical control of the two and three wheels
will officially enter Vigor from April 2024.
The technical control, it already exists for cars,
is an mandatory vehicle examination
that takes place every two years
and which allows to identify
failures likely to lead to security
and users, but also to the environment.
This measure is claimed by the European legislation
since 2014, but it was not applied in France,
particularly because of the opposition
of the representatives of the two wheels.
They are indeed advancing that only 0.3%
of the two-wheel accidents are due to mechanical failure
and therefore that this mandatory technical control
is useless and will cost very much.
Second act, Ukraine risks facing
a huge demographic deficit at the end of the war
according to a long article
of the Ukrainian media, the Kiev Independent.
According to the media, the invasion of Ukraine by Russia
has aggravated a crisis that already existed before.
Ukraine counted 41 million inhabitants in 2021,
while currently it only accounts for 35 million.
This figure could even pass 29 million inhabitants
here in 2050.
So the reason for this decline in population
is the excess of millions of Ukrainians
in other countries to flee the war.
In short, according to the Kiev Independent,
if Ukraine does not manage to bring enough people back,
I quote, the future is dark for its economy
and its population.
Third act, two cargoes are entered
in collision in the North Sea,
this Tuesday at 5 a.m.
making one death and four missing.
According to the daily German hamburger Morgenpost,
there was the Polish ship destination
of Spain with 22 people on board,
the Veriti ship that left Germany
to go to the United Kingdom.
The Veriti in the back.
Several safty ships and helicopters
are currently looking for shipwrecks.
We do not know for the moment the causes of this collision.
Fourth act, the Antarctic background in an irreversible way,
according to a study soon published
in the Nature Climate Change review.
Concretely, even with the best scenarios,
therefore limiting the warming of the planet
to 1.5 degrees,
this is what the Paris Agreement foretells,
well, the process of melting ice from the Antarctic
is set in a definitive way
and we will not be able to come back.
Results, the consequences of this melting of ice
will be seen on the littles,
with an elevation of the sea level,
potentially 2 meters in the next century
or the next millennium.
According to the authors of the study,
therefore it is necessary to anticipate the situation
and adapt.
One of the examples cited is the movement
of the capital of Indonesia, Jakarta,
because of repeated floods.
Fifth act, in a newspaper published in the Journal Le Monde,
a collective called and not used X,
formerly Twitter,
for 24 hours on October 27,
to denounce its derivatives.
This collective was launched by Tristan Mendes France,
Julien Pyn and Rudi Reichstadt,
specialists in the fight against misinformation
and conspiracy theories.
So why on October 27?
Well, because it will mark the first anniversary
of the Twitter control took by the billionaire Elon Musk.
The signatories of the Tribune regret,
especially that Elon Musk, I quote,
is distinguished by his support supported
by the theories of the discredited conspiracy
and dangerous and that there are fewer and fewer moderations.
Well, stay to see if this strike will take place
and will have a real impact,
especially that it concerns for the moment
that the French users, I put you the links in description.
Finally, last act,
the memories so long awaited
of the American singer Britney Spears
come out today in France.
In this book entitled La femme en moi,
Britney Spears tells her childhood
and adolescence under the projectors,
her personal and loving life,
but also her judicial battle
that led to the rise of her tutel two years ago.
In any case, it's an ultra-awaited book.
The first time Britney Spears takes the word
since it was put under the tutel in 2007
and it was shot at 100,000 copies in France,
according to the world.
