Hey, I'm Ryan Reynolds. At Mint Mobile, we like to do the opposite of what Big Wireless does.

They charge you a lot, we charge you a little.

So naturally, when they announced they'd be raising their prices due to inflation,

we decided to deflate our prices due to not hating you.

That's right, we're cutting the price of Mint Unlimited from $30 a month to just $15 a month.

New activation and upfront payment for three-month plan required.

So I told you yesterday, the Israeli army announced this Tuesday that its military operation was entered into its third phase which consists of a massive invasion of Gaza.

So violent confrontations on the ground took place this Tuesday in Gaza.

Notably in the tunnels under Gaza, used by Hamas.

Tunnels that Israel nicknamed the Gaza metro.

But then what exactly does this tunnel look like?

So, Yosved Lipsitz, one of the free Israeli hostages a few days ago by Hamas,

compared this underground network to a real spider web and mentioned a lot, a lot of tunnels.

Concretely, under the Gaza strip, which is a territory of nearly 360 km2,

it hides nearly 500 km from the gallery, according to Hamas.

These tunnels are therefore not built in a linear way.

They are really zigzagged and the whole on several levels.

Some of these galleries would even be dug up to 40 meters underground.

In this tunnel, of course, sometimes it's all black, sometimes they are very narrow.

It is therefore very difficult to spot them, especially if you don't know them well.

According to Daphne Richemont, who is a specialist in urban conflicts and who is

interviewed by RFI, in a link that I put in the description.

Some passages are probably quite wide enough to let go of a bike or a truck,

which shows the differences according to the tunnels.

Besides, after them, these tunnels are a real military base.

So it's not just tunnels.

We find them more widely, rooms, rooms, ports, electricity.

In other words, what to live underground for Hamas today.

So what is this tunnel and why were they set up?

Well, initially, these first tunnels were created in the 80s,

so before the creation of Hamas, and so that at the time,

Palestine faced the contraband with Egypt,

for example, by importing cigarettes, clothes or food.

Indeed, at that time, and since the end of the Six Days War in 1967,

well, it was Israel who controlled the Gaza Strip.

And so it's a way, well, for some groups,

to get even to import some elements directly underground.

So quickly, this tunnel network is recovered by Hamas,

which was founded in 1987.

And in 2005, a year after Hamas' victory to the Palestinian elections,

Israel removed these troops from the Gaza Strip following the Second Intifada.

At that time, after the withdrawal of Israeli troops,

this tunnel network will be developed and will be developed more precisely by Hamas.

So today, these tunnels are particularly strategic for Hamas,

especially for the passage of man, of material,

of weapons too, obviously, via Egypt,

but also to build stocks and command centers.

Besides, this tunnel would have also been used at the attack of this October,

according to the first information.

And we also know that some of the prisoners-of-war civilians

were then hidden directly in these tunnels.

So, of course, for the Israeli army, it is an important challenge.

Indeed, Hamas has the advantage over Israel in these underground tunnels,

since it is in defense situations.

And you may remember it because we have already talked about it, for example,

in the case of the war in Ukraine.

The defense position is generally more favorable to an attacking position.

Indeed, it is easier to prepare the ground.

And this is even more the case here with this tunnel network,

since Hamas necessarily knows this network at the end of his fingers.

While Israel obviously knows it much less.

So, to better know it all the same, it is a tunnel.

Israel tries to count on surveillance technologies,

technologies that have been developed a lot in recent years,

especially by satellites.

But however, it remains very difficult today,

and the information is necessarily limited.

One of the difficulties, in particular, is that certain entrances are sometimes hidden

in buildings or civil sites, according to certain sources.

And for example, in December last,

the United Nations Organization discovered a Hamas tunnel

dug under one of its schools.

More broadly, Israel accuses Hamas of voluntarily placing civilians

near military targets.

Hamas, on its side, defends and accuses Israel

of seeking a pretext for these bombings.

So, even if the Israeli army has asked for the evacuation of the north of the Gaza Strip,

well, civilians are still on the spot and strikes in the tunnels

to lead to the death of many Palestinian civilians.

The question of the fate of these close to 230 Israeli hostages and foreigners

is also in suspense.

In parallel, in any case, the Israeli bombing continues,

making thousands of deaths and thus plunging the Palestinian population

into an extremely critical humanitarian situation.

We will continue to follow the evolution of the situation in the coming days.

I leave the white word for the news in short, and I'll be right back.

Thank you Hugo and hello everyone.

We start with this actor, Shani Luke,

a young woman who was kidnapped by Hamas during a party's dream on October 7th

and who died to announce her mother on Monday.

In fact, during the Hamas attack, we saw her on several unconscious and naked videos

behind a truck led by armed men who seemed to have celebrated her capture.

She had been identified by her parents thanks to the tattoo she wore

after her disappearance.

So, her body was not found again, but according to France Info,

a bone from her skull was found, a bone without which it is impossible to live,

which therefore confirms her death.

230 people are still held hostage by Hamas in Gaza,

and by the way, a dozen Israeli Franco-Israeli hostages arrived in France this Tuesday

to be heard by the international community but also by the French government.

We also learned this Monday that an Israeli soldier of 18 years,

who was therefore part of the hostages, was released

after an operation by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip.

The second act of anti-semitic attacks was discovered

these last days in the 14th arrondissement of Paris and in several cities of Saint-Saint-Denis,

especially Saint-Denis, Saint-Denis and Oberville.

It is the star of David traced to the pouches, which is therefore the symbol of Judaism,

which was also used by the Nazis during the Second World War.

Plains were deposited and inquiries are in progress.

In the Paris region, at least three Jewish schools received threats

as well as synagogues and hidden trade.

Since October 7, 819 anti-semitic acts have been reported in France

against 436 on the whole year 2020.

Third act and it's a good news, inflation,

therefore the general rate of prices, slowed down in October by 4% over a year,

after 4.9% in September according to the last figures of the INSEE.

This decrease in the slowdown of energy prices and food prices, especially.

The Minister of Economy Bruno Le Maire estimated that France was

coming out of the inflationary crisis.

By the way, another major economic indicator and also positive for him,

is growth.

Indeed, the French GDP, which allows to measure the wealth of the country,

recorded a rate of 0.1% in the 3rd trimester of 2023.

Fourth act, the police opened fire and severely injured a woman this morning in Paris.

According to witnesses interviewed by the AFP,

she was holding threatening propositions,

shouting at the Waqbar before threatening to get exploded in a train from the RERC.

She was transported to the hospital and her vital prognosis is committed.

Two investigations have been opened.

One for apology, death threats and acts of intimidation

on a public authority depositor and the other

which concerns the policeman who was shot for voluntary violence

with weapons by no public authority depositor.

No investigation was entrusted to the anti-terrorist park for the moment.

Fifth act, the Sena voted this Monday a law proposal

aimed at banning inclusive writing,

so a writing that aims to establish the equality of genres in the French language.

This law foretold this practice in many official documents in French,

such as employment modes, labor contracts or legal acts.

Emmanuel Macron had alerted this Monday during the inauguration

of the city of the French language.

His fear of seeing, I quote, the French language being sealed at the end of time.

So the law proposal must still be debated at the National Assembly

before its definitive adoption.

Sixth act, the American President Joe Biden signed this Monday

a text of law to frame the use of artificial intelligence

by companies in the United States.

Concretely, it is about controlling the development of projects based on IA

which may potentially pose a risk of national security

but also to identify the products issued by artificial intelligence.

On his side, the United Kingdom launched this Wednesday

the first global conference dedicated to risk associated with artificial intelligence,

hundreds of leaders, business leaders and experts will stand

on the existential risks of IA development.

We will keep you informed about it.

Last act, and this is good news,

in Brazil, scientists are developing a vaccine

that could stop the addiction to cocaine.

In fact, this treatment triggers a immune response

that prevents cocaine and the crack of reaching the brain

and aims to block the sensation of pleasure that the cocaine causes.

So the project must still obtain the approval of the authorities

so that the vaccine is commercialized.

As a result, it would become the first vaccine to treat the dependence on cocaine.

Thank you very much Blanche for these updates in short.

So to finish, a small cultural category.

And yes, we won't refuse today.

So we are on October 31st and we celebrate Halloween.

But where does this party come from?

Well, by the way, it comes from an old Irish religious party,

Samhain or Samhain.

In short, I leave you the pronunciation you want to celebrate at the beginning of the autumn by the Celts.

It actually corresponded to a strange night

during which the borders between the world of the living and the water of the land were exceptionally open.

So according to some theories, the Celts at the time disguised themselves

to try to defray the beings who could freely pass from the water of the land to the human kingdom.

And by the end of time, this party appeared from the middle of the 19th century

on the American and Canadian soil, with the arrival of 2 million Irish and Scottish immigrants

who necessarily imported their practice and their culture.
